"Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Proverbs 31:30
Hey guys! Hope y'all all had a great Independence Day (if you live in America)! This past week I had 2 sleepovers which were both really fun and we got to do fireworks for July 4th! On the other days, everything else was pretty uneventful. As you can tell from the title, today's post is about why my blog is called Abigail and Sugar. If you know know me pretty well or scroll way back in my posts, you'll probably know what the meaning is. But you might not know the entire story. So today I am going to explain that from the very beginning...

In the summer of 2010, my family went on vacation to California. One day we went to the San Diego Zoo and got to see lots of animals. When we were about to leave, my parents let my sister and me pick out one souvenir each. Of course, being so young, we went and looked at the stuffed animals. We both chose a polar bear stuffed animal. She got a bigger teddy bear style one and named it Shiver. I got a smaller one that had short fur and I named mine Sugar. Elisabeth had never been super attached to stuffed animals though. She was more attached to blankets in the past. But I have had multiple 'lovies' growing up. When we got back, Elisabeth played with Shiver for a while, but eventually stopped playing with it. On the other hand, I became immediately attached to Sugar. I took her literally everywhere I went! She had one leg in particular I held that practically no stuffing in it! One time I took her to Jason's deli and I went to the bathroom and accidentally left her there. I didn't realize this until we left. So we called the place and they said they found Sugar in the toilet! So we got her back and washed her. As you can tell I was very attached to Sugar. I still had her when I started this blog (hence the name 'Abigail and Sugar'). But then came that fateful day I took her to Costco and lost her. Costco is really big though and Sugar was really small. We even went to the lost and found multiple times but they never found Sugar. I got another similar one off the internet and treated it like Sugar for a few years but it was never the same... She was my favorite stuffed animal out of all of them and I missed her a ton. But now I have Piper which is even better than a stuffed animal. Anyway, that's how the blog name came to be. Sugar will always have a special place in my heart.
I hope y'all enjoyed that blog post! Have a great week and come back next Monday for more!💖

I miss Sugar too!

ReplyDeleteI never remember the days before Sugar and in a way I miss seeing her on our annual trips. I loved reading the back story and seeing all the pictures of when you were younger!

You know, for some reason we don't really celebrate American Independence Day ;)
