Guest Post!!!

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

I know this is not my usual day to post, but my friends from church came over last night and I asked one of them if they want to guest post (under my account). She said yes, so instead of me blogging today it's going to be her!

Hi! I'm Abigail's friend from church, and she's allowing me to write on her blog today!
But you already knew that.
Abigail's letting me do "freestyle", so here goes.
I am ALMOST twelve, and am in the same year as Abigail. My favorite activities and past time include reading, writing, tennis, and playing instruments, and listening/analyzing/composing music.
Today, I'll be talking about my lover and companion: the CELLO.
The cello, in my opinion, is one of the best instruments to play- especially if you want to audition for orchestra. Why? Here are my reasons:

  1. The cello has a huge range, and is always nice to listen to, no matter the genre of music.
  2. It is easy to learn and play, and with a little bit of practice you'll sound great!
  3. It's not the most common instrument in strings orchestra (that being the violin), so there is less competition when it comes to chair tests and placements.

The strings on a cello are (from highest to lowest) A, D, G, and C. Most cellists start out with using mostly the A and D strings, and gradually move to a wider range. There are also different techniques like vibrato, pizzicato, and moving down the fingerboard to higher positions.
All in all, the cello is a fun and exciting instrument to play!

That's it for her post. Thank you for reading and come back on next Monday for more!

  1. Dear Abigail's friend,

I'm a cellist too and I can definitely agree with you for the most part. The cello sounds so open and is less squeaky than the violin. It has a great range, particularly as you can just slide higher and higher when you shift. It's not hard to make a sound, I guess we just have to make it sound good.
However, when I joined my first orchestra, there were three first violins, two second violins, one viola and eight cellos. We were definitely the majority there. Even now, the cellos (although the orchestra has balanced out a bit more) remain abundant!
I wouldn't say that the cello is the love of my life because I also play the piano. The cello has a more mellow timbre but I like that the piano has a fuller sound, as you are both the melody and the accompaniment in one piece.
It was nice to hear about you and I hope that your cello playing continues in the future.
    Best wishes,
    Eleanor

5 things you probably don't know about me

Brothers,  join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk  according to the example you have in us.  For  many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you  even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ.   Their end is destruction,  their god is their belly, and  they glory in their shame, with  minds set on earthly things.   But  our citizenship is in heaven, and  from it we  await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,     who will transform  our lowly body  to be like his glorious body,  by the power that enables him even  to subject all things to himself. Philippians 3:17-21 Once again, I'm so sorry for not blogging this past week. I was at D-Camp, which is a camp where my church and a bunch of our sister churches have a camp for middle-schoolers and we get to know each other and God more. The Bible verse above was actually the theme for it. Camp was super fun by the...
